AGGRESSIVE ADDICTS
1. Online Aggression and Addiction
People who display high levels of Addiction often have problematic internet usage and are more likely to:
Spend excessive time online, especially in anonymous or low-accountability spaces (e.g., forums, comment sections, gaming chats).
Develop emotional dysregulation due to sleep deprivation, poor offline relationships, or mental health struggles.
Engage in flaming, trolling, cyberbullying, or hostile commenting often as a form of release or control.
Prey upon those weak , vulnerable and disadvantaged in order to make themselves feel better. Why?
Aggression becomes an outlet in a space that lacks the social consequences of real life. They prey upon those with High Spiritual Value as it is Power. Their Goal is to exchange how they feel about themselves, Guilt, Shame, Low Self Worth for the Confidence , Love and Amazingness of those they prey upon. They will continue until the Victim blocks them, They Break, or they Leave.
2. Underlying Psychological Factors
Both online aggression and addiction often share similar root causes, such as:
Low self-esteem
Depression or Anxiety
Loneliness or social Isolation
Impulsivity and poor Emotional regulation
These shared traits can drive someone to:
Use the internet excessively to escape or cope.
Lash out when triggered or frustrated in digital spaces.
Attack innocent people
3. Gaming and Social Media Addiction
Online aggression is especially noted in environments like:
Competitive gaming (e.g., toxic behaviour in multiplayer games)
Social media (e.g., harassment in comments, cancel culture, call-out posts)
People addicted to these platforms may:
Over Identify with their online presence or status. Their Imaginary Status gives them Power Issues where they become Arrogant and Entitled and believe that they are above others.
React aggressively to perceived slights, criticism, or loss of control.
4. Anonymity and Disinhibition
The Online Disinhibition Effect explains how people behave more aggressively when they:
Feel anonymous or invisible.
Believe their actions have no real-world consequences.
Addicted users, who are online constantly, may experience more of this disinhibition, increasing the chance of aggressive outbursts.
5. Not All Addicts Are Aggressive online, But Risk Is Higher
Most people with digital addictions are withdrawn, depressed, or anxious, but not aggressive.
However, the more Emotionally unbalanced someone is, the more likely their Addiction may result in Irritability, Frustration and hostile Behaviour when provoked.
Summary: What is the Link?
So, while online aggression doesn't always mean someone is an addict, people with internet, gaming, or social media addiction are at a higher risk of becoming aggressive, especially if other psychological factors are involved.
